Please join Vermont Hands & Voices for a morning at Shelburne Farms, 10:15-1:00 on Wednesday, August 14! We'll meet at 10:15 at the tractor ride spot, and take the 10:30 ride to the farm barn, then watch a chicken parade, visit the animals, walk the trails, and wrap up the morning with a picnic lunch!
Meet other families of D/deaf, hard of hearing, and deafblind kids, and other people in the DHHDB community, and make connections on the farm! It's common for kids in Vermont who have a hearing loss to feel like they're the only one, and it can make a huge difference to meet other children and adults who share some of their experiences, or who sign, or have CIs, or wear hearing aids. Plus it'll be fun! D/deaf and hard of hearing adults and professionals in the field: please bring your families as well! Interpreters will be available to facilitate easy communication.
Shelburne Farms is at 1611 Harbor Rd, Shelburne, VT. Admission is by donation; we can help out if that's a challenge for you. Wear farm footgear, bring your water bottle and a picnic lunch, and sunscreen/bug repellent/warm clothes, as the weather dictates; no dogs allowed except service dogs.
Send us a quick message to let us know you're coming, and tell us who will be with you, and your communication/access needs: [email protected] or 802-399-5092, so we know to look for you, and can be sure to meet your access needs. If you decide to join at the last minute, please call or text!
We will keep an eye on the weather and will send out an email message if it looks like we need to postpone.
